Lust

The first time I fell in love, t’was under moonlight
Oh my goddess! Sherida, shouldn’t you be the moon
Utu’s consort, a dark reflection of the sun?

The eros lost its allure, burnt away by light of dawn
I was nineteen, the first and last time that I fell in love
I desire other things now, Sherida burnt by the sun, her husband.

(Again inspired by dualities, or maybe the word is dichotomy. I was thinking how in the ancient Egyptian and Sumerian they were usually depicted as a male-female pairing. Enki and Mamma (I prefer using this name) : river and Earth, Enlil and Ninlil: North wind, South wind. The Utu and Sherida pairing confused me in the beginning, sun and beauty/sex. I guess it’s about the sensual and the metaphysical. Sherida is incorporated into the Inanna myths later on. Perhaps their union (dawn) can produce true love, one that frolics under moonlight and sustains over harsh sunlight, despite one’s, and one’s partner’s, many seeming imperfections.)
